About UsJUN
17 Akber Miya & Brothers Hyderabad Hyderabad was not a city which one loves at first sight. Yet it has charms that grows on you, confluences of the north and south which create an intriguingly diverse atmosphere (diversity is of course a keyword of India, and Hyderabad an example to the extreme). In this city both the Hindustani and Carnatic music traditions are very strong, and although it used to be practiced by different groups in the society, now more and more people are crossing the boundaries, for example, many musicians are experimenting with musical fusion, “Jugal bandhi,” literally meaning “blending of two” and “tie.” My reasons for visiting Hyderabad, apart from expecting to feel some of the blending, was mainly for a specific Tabla makers, called Akber Miya and Brothers. This shop has been making Tabla for three generations, and one of the famous tabla makers in India. Established in 1910 from the time of Nizam's rule ,these professional Craftsmen have made brilliant tablas for many Maestros ,like Ustad Ahmed Jaan Thirakhwa Khan,Pandit Shamta Prasad, Ustad Zakir Hussain and many more. |
Who We Are |
The oldest tabla makers in the city of Hyderabad. The way of tabla making which we adopt and practice is totally different . For tabla players who use the thread beneath the tabla to get a good reverberating sound . We produce tabla of the finest quality skin and wood ,which lasts for a longer time and remains as a friend to the tabla player. Our Tabla is produced with a fine calculation and symmetrical method inorder to provide the instrument a fine tonal quality. This is because most of the tabla go out of tune very frequently, but as our tabla the tune remains constant for a longer period of time, there is a lot of perfection needed in making the tabla ,we undergo many processes before handing it to the customers.
